Dog Getting Groomed

Looking After Your Furry Friend After Their Appointment

After a pampering session at Paws Grooming Parlour, your dog will be looking and feeling their best – but a little post-groom care can go a long way in keeping them comfortable and happy once they’re home.

Let Them Rest

Grooming can be tiring, especially for puppies, older dogs, or those not used to regular appointments. Give your dog some quiet time and let them relax in a familiar space.

Don’t Bathe Them Again

We use high-quality, gentle shampoos suited to your dog’s coat and skin. There’s no need to rewash your dog at home – this can actually cause irritation or strip the coat of essential oils.

Wait Before Feeding

Some dogs may feel a little unsettled or excited after grooming. It’s best to wait around 30 minutes before feeding, especially if they were particularly active or nervous during their appointment.

Monitor for Reactions

It’s normal for a dog’s skin to be slightly sensitive after grooming, especially if matting was removed or if it’s their first visit. Keep an eye out for:

  • Excessive scratching

  • Licking or chewing

  • Redness or minor irritation

If anything seems unusual or doesn’t settle within 24 hours, please feel free to contact us – we’re here to help.

Keep Up With Coat Maintenance

Brushing at home between appointments helps prevent matting and keeps your dog’s coat healthy and tangle-free. If you’re unsure which tools to use, we’re always happy to recommend brushes for your dog’s coat type.
